Microchipping pets in Surrey

In 2016, it became a legal requirement to microchip all dogs in the UK. Cat microchipping has now been made compulsory and all cats over 20 weeks old will need a microchip by the 20th June 2024.

Aside from obeying the law, Kingston Vets highly recommends microchipping your pets as soon as possible to help you reunite should they ever become lost.

The microchip can be implanted during an oridnary consultation similarly to how a vaccination would be administered. Microchips are often compared to a grain of rice in size which then contains a unique identity. After implantation, our team will register your details against this code on the national database - it is then the owner's responsibility to keep these details up to date.
